  • Arrl – Please join if you havent already because the ARRL does a lot to advance Amateur Radio and also because it allows the club to maintain insurance for a very reasonable rate.
  • Road Clenup: Coming up soon
  • VE Testing – A testing is scheduled for February 26th 2022.

  • Officer Elections
  • We are looking for a new treasurer or secretary please volunteer if you feel you have a bit of time to help out.
  • Testing: January29th ve’s – 9-9:30AM
  • Club Dues are due
  • Amount of Dues:
    • Since the amount in the club’s bank account has fallen Allen motioned to change the dues to $20 Bobbie seconded the motion and it passed
  • Website – Scott and Johnathan changed the website over from Jonathan to the new provider.

New Business

  • Timing of Club meetings:
    • Sarah KB5SPX asked why 7:30 is the club meeting time, and if an earlier time would work better for people
    • Allen KG5LFI, and Bobbie N5XDQ suggested that changing the times to change with the time change might possibly be a good idea
    • In the end there was no second for Sarah’s initial motion and the timing of the meeting will stay the same for now
  • Auditing meeting – The yearly auditing meeting was at artifax on the 30th of December at 9:30AM With Bobbie, Sturge, Paull and Allen
    • The financial audit was read by Paull NM5PH and was accepted as accurate and appropriate and signed by trustees.

  • Club Insurance:
    • Don K6QQT has gotten the club signed up for the new insurace and it is now in effect
  • Ham Testing:
    • There should be a HAM Testing 9:30AM – 2PMJanuary 29th, at the Sycamore Center
  • Website – Since the website has not been changed over yet Scott will make sure to change the website over from Jonathan to the new provider.

New Business

  • Elections
    • Donnie K6QQT was elected to stay on as President
    • Bill KK5ZH was elected to stay on as Vice Presidant
    • The treasurer positon goes to Scott temporrily until someone else can take it over.
    • We are looking for a new treasurer or secretary since Scott does not have the time to do both.
    • 1 trustee, Fred Roseman KI5OVA, was replaced by Sturge WA5K Allen KG5LFI will be down to 1 year remaining and Paull NM5PH will be down to 2 years remaining
  • Holiday brunches cancelled – We will not doing a Christmas or New Year Brunch this year due to Covid
  • Auditing meeting – The yearly auditing meeting will be at artifax on the 30th of December at 9:30AM With Bobbie, Sturge, Paull and Allen

Minutes were eventually posted via email and Devin KD5NMX was kind enough to post them to the website last minute even though they should have been put out sooner.

Old Business:

  • Equipment Thanks to Paull NM5PH we now have inventory on record of what we own.
  • Dues Bobbie has collected dues based upon the $20 amount discussed earlier. Vote was made to determine if dues should remain at $20 Paull NM5PH Motioned, Bill KK5ZH seconded, and motion to stay at $20 passed unanimously.

New Business

  • Audit 2 of 3 trustees did not attend meeting, 2 volunteered to Donnie K6QQT and were approved. Audit letter was read by Paull NM5PH and Records were in good order. Motion to accept was made by Bill KK5ZH and seconded by Tom N0MKC
  • Club picnic A motion to set date for our club picnic as Sept 12th was made by Sarah KB5SPX and seconded by Tom N0MKC, Motion passed, Donnie will need to get the park reservation arranged.
  • Ham test A ham test will talk next month for the Colorado club.
  • Application was turned in for Barry Adams. Next month there will be a vote to let him in.

  • New Club Applicant There was a new applicant Barry Adams who Bill KK5ZH motioned should be accepted into the club and Sturge WA5K seconded, Motion passed

New Business

  • Radios The club has 2 Radios we knew of, one of them bing an Icom 735 radio. A letter was read from technician stating that USB crystal is defective. The technician, Paull NM5PH, offered to purchase the radio and repair it at his own expense if the club decided not to attempt a repair requiring a difficult to find crystal. Bill KK5ZH motioned and Sturge WA5K seconded the motion to sell the radio to Paull NM5PH. Paull NM5PH abstained from the vote in order to prevent a conflict of interest. The motion passed and the radio was sold. The club still has one radio.
  • Picnic Donnie needs to get park, and schedule next test
  • Upcoming events We will possibly help with Ron’s equipment at some point if his family calls on us. Ron’s son Tom may come to breakfast at some point.
  • Floyd’s wife will be having estate sale. No known date. Sold items will need to be present in the sale though.

Old Business

  • Issue from the zoom meeting in may:
    • We seem to have gotten the Trustees’ terms mixed up from last year Please note the terms above and let us know if anyone thinks this is not correct
  • Club Officers:
    • It was stated that the club officers have all agreed to stay on until the end of the year. After that at least one, Bobbie N5XDQ will need to step down for personal reasons.
  • Dues:
    • The dues for this year remain at $10
  • 2020 Audit:
    • Paull NM5PH reported that the audit was performed by the 3 designated trustees and all items were in order. The paperwork from the audit was accepted by the secretary.
  • Club Insurance:
    • The reason the club had insurance was for liability purposes for activities which club members no longer partake in
      • Paull NM5PH stated that These activities once included climbing towers, which would have made Insurance a very reasonable choice
    • It was stated that, for reference, last year’s insurance was $323.20
    • One member thought it could be possible that some club insurance might be required in order to be an ARRL affiliated club so more research will be done to see if that is the case before a vote happens at the next meeting in September..

New Business

  • Potluck/Tailgate September 11th:
    • A vote was held and it was unanimous
    • On Saturday, September 11th between 10 AM to 2PM at Upper Rio Vista Park the club will hold a Potluck/Tailgate
    • Bring any excess items you wish to sell and cash just in case you find something that you can’t live without
  • Road Apple Rally:
    • First weekend in October (This year that falls on the 2nd) We will confirm this with Devin KD5NMX soon.
    • Someone heard that it might be a 2 day deal this year, so we need to see if we are still only needed the one day
    • Contact Devin KD5NMX for more info or to volunteer
  • Highway Pickup:
    • The Highway pickup has been postponed long enough due to the pandemic. We will make an attempt to do it on October the 9th
    • Contact Scott K8OIP to volunteer or for more information
  • Ham Testing:
    • Donnie K6QQT stated that we have a tentative testing date of September 18th. If you know anyone who would like to become a ham or upgrade their license then please contact Donnie K6QQT for more info.
  • New Member:
    • Jim KI5OUZ was unanimously voted in as the newest member of the club.
  • Future Meetings:
    • The next meeting will be at the September 11th Potluck in Upper Rio Vista Park. Future meetings after may be held in the Fire Station once again after they are done with a remodel they are currently undergoing.

  • Club Insurance:
    • ARRL affiliation was updated
    • Insurance is available through ARRL
    • Most clubs, coverage is about $200
    • Donnie thinks this price sounds reasonable
    • It covers: comprehensive injury, gathering, concessions etc, all club events. Pays legal defense costs. Up to $2M per year. No deductibles.
    • Probably needed for meeting places
    • Percentage requirement of ARRLmembers -Darryl asked
    • We need to research what percentage of members are ARRL in the club and to find if we have that percentage
    • It would be good to ask around (Kaiser and others…)
    • Donnie will be gone the 21st, will not have time
  • Road Apple Rally:

    • Was arrl(200) vs mercer(323) vs kysar (Can’t Match the current price)
    • About 13/24 members are ARRL, not sure if we are 50% (We probably are)
  • Bill, sturge 2nd Passed unananimously, Don will look into it and will pay with the new debit card
  • Road Apple Rally:
    • Went off as well as usual. We didn’t do anything avluable with communications, but they like to have us there for more assistance. The cell phones are just as useful as radios.
  • Highway Pickup:
    • Thanks to Sturge, Glenn, Bobbi, and Scott we were able to beautify 1 mile of La Plata Highway by removing 8 bags of trash from the freeway
  • Ham Testing:
    • There should be a HAM Testing on December 11th

  • Holiday brunches cancelled – We will not doing a Christmas or New Year Brunch this year due to Covid

Call meeting to order

Introductions of members and visitors if any one new there:: 11 people present.

Treasure’s report: Bobbie read the report, Motion to approve Tom N0MKC, 2nd Paul NM5PH

Secretary report : no minutes form last meeting.

Old business

Ham test issue with date in June with the meeting room and my schedule. Bobbie got us June 8th but I can not do June 8th I will be out of town so we need another place or someone else will have to run the testing.:: We will not do the spring test session between my schedule and the Center’s schedule it does not work out, Will still plan the November 16th test session.

License Trustee change went through. It is in under may name. Received the written conformation. Expiration Date of 09/11/2025

Website, pet peve of mine why have one if it is not kept up. I do not have passwords to help out. I will get with Scott.

Paul NM5PH Presented and Read the Financial Audit on behalf of the club Trustees.

No Issue found Motion to accept the financial Audit made by Mike Jr KG5WYK, seconded by Stergie WA5K. Congratulations to Bobbie for another year of excellent record keeping.

Bobbie brought up if we want to continue to support the Road Apple Rally as a club, She is stepping down as organizer. Some discussion was held and will be brought up at the next meeting to determine if we are going to continue or not. If we do decide to continue we will need a someone to step up and take over coordinator.

Paull NM5PH notes that the club’s call sign is K5WXI, and should be noted in minutes in the discussion of club license trustee transfer.

Paull NM5PH moved to accept December’s Minutes as amended, seconded by KK5ZH. Motion approved unanimously in a vote of acclimation.

  1. Old Business
    1. Form to transfer trustee on club license from Doug NQ5G to Don KJ5GQ has been filled out and will be filed.
  2. New Business
    1. Highway cleanup for spring. Historically it has been March 10, suggested moving to after March 22. Dave K5AVO volunteered to organize trash cleanup, taking over for Don KJ5GQ. April 13 suggested as a date.
    2. Ham testing- DARC plans to test March 30, July 23 and Sep 14. Tentatively Don KJ5GQ plans to test in Farmington, June 1 and November 16. Bobbie N5XDQwill check on availability of Sycamore Park Community center for test.
    3. Membership email list- Do we want to keep folks that aren’t members on the email list? Discussion consensus is to only send minutes to active club members, and the big list can be used for other club activities.
    4. Ryan KG5RGN tenders resignation as trustee. Dave K5AVO self nominates to replace as trustee. Dave K5AVO is accepted as trustee unanimously in vote of acclimation. Dave replaces Ryan, term still ends at the end of 2020.
    5. Normal yearly audit by trustees was not completed at brunch potluck, will be completed tonight and presented at next meeting.
    6. Bill KK5ZH commends Don and Sarah on a great potluck brunch, fun was had by all.
    7. Kasie KG5ZNQ, Talon KG5WYJ and Mike Jr. KG5WYK are presented as prospective members. Their membership will be voted on at the next meeting.

  • Don KJ5GQ has tables he is trying to get rid of. See him for info.
  • January 26 there will be a tailgate in Albuquerque, worth googling if you are interested.
  • Join us for an informal breakfast gathering at Los Hermanitos Restaurant East in the Middle Fork Square on East Main St. at 7:30 am on Saturdays. Anyone interested in Ham Radio is welcome!
  • The Totah Amateur Radio Repeater Association (TARPA) is in the process of setting up a repeater. Currently the repeater is not in operation and looking for a new home.
  • NEXT MEETING OF THE TARC IS February 14, 2019 at Fire Station #6 at 19:30 (7:30pm) on the west end of Farmington NM on the South side of West Main Street.

Old Business:

  • New Years brunch Jan 5th at 9-ish, bring something to share, Don will make sure that there is coffee there.
  • Insurance was paid
  • Testing Will happen in Durango in March, we will no longer be coordinating with them, and if there is interest we can set up a test session. We might possibly do one in February. Don will research what will work for us and the other hams in the area.

New Business

  • Club officers:
    • President – The position was open. Donie KJ5GQ volunteered and was elected.
    • Vice President – Bill KK5ZH has been VP for years, and was so great at it that he was elected once again.
    • Secretary – Scott KG5VBX was elected to remain Secretary
    • Treasurer – Bobbi N5XDQ has been treasurer for years, was nominated and voted in
    • Trustees – Paul KE5FBN was renominated for the trustee position again and was voted in as long as he accepts the position. The trustee of record is not known at the moment, was Doug NQ5G.
  • Dues We are $114 down from last year. 25 are on the roster down from 35 last year. Bobbi said we might increase dues to keep a balance. We pay for mailbox, insurance, website, corporation dues. The secretary needs to ask about paying website fee.
  • DuesIncrease Bill motioned to increase dues to $20. Donnie seconded the motion and the motion was passed to increase dues to $20.
  • Club Callsign The club callsign is still under Doug NQ5G, now will be under Donnie KJ5GQ

Old Business:

  • Road Cleanup 10 bags were collected. Thanks for all those who helped out!
  • Subject 1 – Devin is back in town, welcome back!
  • Christmas Party Dave is unable to host. Anyone who is able is welcome to take that over. We might cancel, but Devin might offer to host if he can. He will check on that and the date.
  • Road Apple Rally Went Well without problems. Paull stated that we had no function being at the event. The event staff already knew all information before we relayed. The event staff had county radios and cell phones. The county had a dispatcher in the command center. We used to do many events, but since cellphones have become popular we are doing fewer.

New Business

  • New years brunch Jan 5th at the Walkers’
  • Election of Officers Dave will not be volunteering to be president and Bobbie is offering her job to anyone who wants it. Voting.
  • We would like to encourage our new members to vote and/or volunteer for offices.
  • Insurance Insurance needed to be paid. Devon motioned to pay it and Donnie Seconded. The motion passed.
  • Testing – We don’t know when the next testing session and Donnie hasn’t been able to get a hold of the club in Durango December 8th 1pm in Durango @ Christ the King Lutheran Church.

Fall 2018 Highway Cleanup

The fall 2018 Highway cleanup was a success. We collected 10 bags and got our small stretch of highway back into shape. Thanks to all those who were involved!
